We spend a lot of time inside the four walls of our home, and when we plan any home improvement projects, we tend to prioritise those that take place inside the home, rather than outside of it. Whilst this makes absolute sense to do, as we do live inside not outside, it is worth spending some time exploring ways that you can improve the exterior of your home. First impressions do count, and you will be amazed by how differently you will feel about your home by transforming the outside space. Look at the kerb appeal

Try to approach your home with fresh eyes and take in the overall initial impression. You will then want to break down this impression into the finer details and work out which areas could do with some attention.

A new front door can work wonders and give the frontage a completely different look. Similarly, changing the windows can alter the appearance as well as providing better insulation.

Your driveway might benefit from being resurfaced, or any fencing and gates replaced. Keep any pathways even and free of weeds to ensure that they are both attractive and safe for visitors. 

If you have a garden, seek to keep it tidy and if it is proving difficult to maintain, look into covering it in gravel and popping a few pots out there instead. This will create a very tidy and appealing low maintenance look for you. 

Focus on the roof and brickwork

This is probably the least exciting of the projects listed, but it is also probably the most important one.

First and foremost, you need to ensure that your roof is in good condition. If you have a flat roof, these often have a shorter life than pitched, so look into options such as EPDM rubber roofing to improve and resurface it. Redesign your garden

Your garden can completely change how you use and feel about the exterior of your home. 

Unlike other areas of your home, a garden is constantly changing, and as such this can be an ongoing project. You might seek to take on different elements each season, over a period of a year or two to get it to the stage where you are happy with it. 

You can create features, pathways, lawns, container areas, wildlife sections, fruit and vegetable plots, pretty shrubs and flower beds and more. Add to these an inviting seating area and you will be keen to spend much more time outside. 

You could also add a garden room to give yourself more living space, along with creating an interesting feature and focal point in your garden.
