Natural Ways to Help Heal Skin Inflammation Faster

Skin that is thick, itchy, and red is no fun to live with, but it is something that many of us suffer from whether due to a medical condition or due to various factors like allergies and sun exposure.

If you think that you have a serious skin condition like psoriasis, it is always a good idea to see a doctor or dermatologist and have them recommend a treatment to you. It is also a good idea to consult with them before you try any natural remedies like the ones we are going to discuss below.

However, if you have a mild irritation that is unlikely to be serious, there are a number of things you can do to help your inflamed skin heal more quickly, including the following:

Stay out of the sun

If your skin is inflamed, then one of the worst things you can do is expose it to the sun, Stay in the shade, wear long loose clothing, and ensure you have sunscreen on at all times and you will find that, at the very least, you do not make things worse, and at best, that you are able to heal faster.

Give your beauty regime a break

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your inflamed skin is to give it a break and let it recover. Stop using makeup, leave your moisturizer alone for a few days and just let your skin breathe. So many beauty products, even those for sensitive skin, will only make things worse, so it is best to avoid them until a flare-up is under control if you possibly can.

Try botanical soaps

Botanical soaps can be very helpful to some people who are experiencing inflammation, especially if they contain ingredients like tea tree, lavender and chamomile which all have anti-inflammatory properties. Just make sure you are not sensitive to the soap before using or you could make matters worse.

Relax

Stress can make skin inflammation much worse, so one way to try and help it heal faster is to simply relax. Take some time to meditate, sip coffee and read a good book, go to the local spa for a massage – sp whatever you need to do to chill out and you might notice that your skin doesn’t look so red as it did.

Take an oatmeal bath

Bathing in oatmeal is a tried and tested way to soothe irritated skin and help to reduce inflammation. It might sound weird and messy, but the compounds released by soaking oatmeal can work wonders on sore and inflamed skin, so consider giving it a try if you possibly can.

Skin inflammation is not a lot of fun, but as you can see, there are lots of things you can do to help your skin heal faster than before. Of course, it is worth remembering that not everything will work for everyone and you should always consult an expert before trying a new remedy if you have a skin condition.
