Manage Your Calorie Count

Calories tend to be something that everyone mentions when it comes to health and wellbeing. When it comes down to it, calories aren’t actually the be all and end all of health. You can eat your recommended calorie count but it is composed of bad meals and your health won’t benefit from it. Still – calories are a unit of measurement to gauge how much fuel you’re putting in your body and you can manage your calorie count by sticking to the guide below:

  • Children aged 2 to 8 – 1000 to 1400 calories
  • Girls aged 9 to 13 – 1400 to 1600 calories
  • Boys aged 9 to 13 – 1600 to 2000 calories
  • Active women aged 14 to 30 – 2400 calories
  • Sedentary women aged 14 to 30 – 1800 to 2000 calories
  • Active men aged 14 to 30 – 2800 to 3200 calories
  • Sedentary men aged 14 to 30 – 2000 to 2600 calories
  • Active adults over 30 – 2000 to 3000 calories
  • Sedentary adults over 30 – 1600 to 2400 calories

Of course, everyone is different and your individual calorie recommendation may differ. For a certain recommendation, we’d recommend booking in with your doctor, who can advise you further based on your individual circumstances.

Get Enough Exercise

Exercise is essential for your fitness and it’s recommended that almost everyone gets some sort of exercise in their routine. For the average adult, roughly one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week is advised. Of course, the best form of exercise for you will depend on what results you want to see. If you want to run a marathon, walking, jogging and running will be recommended. If you want to build strength in your arms, you should “do proper chest dumbbell workouts”. Remember that there are alternative forms of exercise to the gym too. If you like, you could try something different like:

  • Cycling
  • Team sports
  • Swimming
  • Dance
  • Pole fitness
  • Archery
  • Track and field

Keep an Eye on Your Mental Health

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Sure, there may have been a taboo surrounding mental health in the past, but nowadays, people are much more open and understanding concerning mental health conditions and symptoms. If you find that you’re ever struggling with your mental health, remember that there are countless sources of support out there. From friends and family to doctors, therapists, helplines, support groups, mental health charities and more.

Of course, there are various other aspects of healthy living you should be focusing on. But these are a great place to start and can make all the difference to your day to day life.
