The Best UK Destinations For A Relaxing Weekend Getaway

The Best UK Destinations For A Relaxing Weekend Getaway

Are you looking to get away from it all?

Especially when you’re feeling frazzled from the busyness of life, it is sometimes good to get away for the occasional weekend to rest and relax.

But where should you go? It depends on your budget, of course, and your capacity for travel. But to give you some inspiration, be you looking for a city break or a country break, here are some ideas that might prove useful to you.

The City of Bath

If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, book a spa break in Bath. This historic city is famous for its hot springs and natural mineral waters, and offers opportunities aplenty for anybody looking to pamper themselves with a heated spa experience. Check the following link for an example, or visit the city’s bathhouses, which date all the way back to Roman times. Bath is also famous for its parks and gardens, with the botanical gardens of Royal Victoria Park being a particular highlight, so take a picnic and sit amidst the city’s natural beauty. There are champagne cruises along the canals too, and hot air balloon rides over the city, so there is much more for you to do in the way of relaxation.

The Lake District

There are many areas of natural beauty around the UK, including the Cotswolds and the Yorkshire Dales. However, the Lake District is arguably the greatest of them all. With picturesque villages just begging to be explored, hills and mountains to climb (if you want to get the most of Cumbria’s fabulous views), and some fabulous lakes to sit aside with a picnic and a good book, you will truly benefit from the fresh air and the tranquil beauty that the area will give you. There is simply too much to say about the Lake District, and too many places of specific interest for us to mention, but you can check out this guide if you want to learn more.

Cornwall

You don’t need to travel abroad if you’re looking for a beach getaway. Cornwall has some of the finest beaches in the world, and because of the county’s reasonably warm climate, they are worth a visit at any time of the year. From the golden sanded beauty of Polurrian Cove to the idyllic beaches off Chapel Porth, check out this extensive list of the best beaches Cornwall has to offer. And because there are so many of them, you don’t have to hit the touristy places if you are in need of some alone time. With just the sun, sand, sea (and a cornish pasty), you can relax with your own thoughts surrounded by coastal beauty. You should also visit some of Cornwall’s quaint fishing villages during your stay too, and to top off your Cornish experience, you should also take time out for a clotted cream tea at one of the many tea rooms. We have barely scratched the surface to be honest, as there are many places to visit and hidden nooks and crannies to explore, but you can easily do a Google search yourself if you want to know more.

We think these are three of the best places for a relaxing UK getaway, but if you have any other suggestions for our list, please leave us a comment with your ideas below.
