Why You Should Spend More Time Working in Your Garden

Why You Should Spend More Time Working in Your Garden

More and more of us are working from home, at least some of the time. You might run your own business out of a home office or work online as a freelancer. Even if you are still employed by another company, and spend some time in their office, you might be lucky enough to be able to work from home for at least some of the time.

Working from home has a great many advantages, (and a few disadvantages) mainly that it allows you to work much more flexibly, and can help you to avoid childcare costs and the hassle of commuting. It can also help you to work more productively, and creatively, and many homeworkers report to feeling less stressed out and tired, and more in control of their careers.

But, working from home doesn’t literally mean working in your house all of the time. You might choose to go out to work sometimes, from a library, a coffee shop or co-working space. When you can, you might even enjoy working outdoors in a park or other public space. But, if your garden is peaceful, and offers the privacy that hedges from Hedgeplants Heijnen, it can provide you with the perfect setting. Here are some of the reasons that you should try to work outside in your garden more often.

Reliable WiFi

In theory, your homes internet should reach into your garden. If it doesn’t, a WiFi booster could be a big help. This means that you can work reliably, and quickly, which isn’t something that you can guarantee if you try to work out of the home in an alternative setting.

It’s Relaxing

Your garden is your safe space. It’s somewhere that you are free to relax and be at peace. The same is true of the inside of your house, of course, but inside you are surrounded by the distractions of home life. You might feel like you can’t focus while there are chores to do. Get into your garden to escape the stress of home life.

It Can Boost Your Creativity

Even those of us that don’t work in creative industries, often need to think creatively to get our jobs done well or to break out of a rut. But, we all get a creative block from time to time. Getting outdoors, closer to nature and the different colours and scents of your garden can be a fantastic creativity boost. Even if you don’t want to work in the garden much, try to head out when you feel a block taking hold.

It’s Free

The main reason that people choose to work in coffee shops and restaurants is for a change of scenery. They get bored sitting inside the house all day on their own. They need a different atmosphere to focus. But, work in a coffee shop, and you’ll spend money. Even if you aim to buy one filter coffee, the longer you are there, the more you’ll be tempted by snacks and treats. Work in your garden, and you are close to your fridge. You’ll get that change of scenery without having to spend a penny.
