Working From Home? Stay Productive With These Tips

Working From Home? Stay Productive With These Tips

One of the best things about having you own business or working for a remote company is the fact that your home becomes your office. Say goodbye to those coffee filled commutes in the morning and awkward meetings that last for an hour too long each day. Working at home is not only good as a business owner but also an employee, and today we want to take a look deeper into working at home.

1. Designate your workspace

When it comes to working at home the most important thing you can do immediately is designate a workspace. It is important for you to have a workspace that is totally dedicated to your work because you will only get distracted if you are at home. Step away from the dishes and stay in a closed office so you can stay focused.

2. Get a whiteboard

A whiteboard can be the most important tool you have above your desk when you work from home. When we are managing our own tasks and workflow it can sometimes be hard to stay on track. This is why writing on a whiteboard and ticking tasks off is a great way to keep your eyes on the prize and always stay focused on the tasks you need to do.

3. Use tools

It is important as a small business owner to use online tools and services to your advantage. For example if you are a growing business and you often get phone calls that disrupt your workflow, a answering phone service is ideal as it will allow someone else to take calls for you and give you the most important information without causing a disruption to your day.

4. Stick to a schedule

Staying in that work mindset can be hard when you are at home and this is why leaning into that office schedule is important. Make sure that every day you work to a schedule that involves taking breaks, checking emails at certain times and taking part in meetings. The more you work like you are in an office the better it will be for and your productivity

5. Take breaks

Whether you are working from home or in an office it is important to take breaks and stand up now and again. Working without a break is a sure fire way to become tired and complacent, and not standing up to stretch your body now and again is not good for you. Be sure to always take breaks and allow yourself to refresh and reset for later.

6. Get out

One of the good things about working at home is the ability to not work at home. If you have the ability to work from anywhere will actually allow you to work at a coffee shop or even in your local park if you want to. Make the most of this and get some different scenery now and again and it will be good for you, allowing you to be more productive.
