4 Steps You Should Include In Your Morning Routine

There are many reasons why you might want to freshen up your morning routine – whether you’re not sleeping well and need something to PULL you out of bed or if you’re trying to make the most of your day by getting up a little earlier. 

While your ideal morning routine will depend upon your sleeping pattern, your schedule, and your general temperament, introducing specific steps into your morning routine can help you start your day off on the right foot.

With that in mind, here are four steps that you should include in your morning routine! 

Stay away from your phone.

According to a recent report, 80% of adults check their phones within ten minutes of waking up each morning. While this is an easy habit to fall into, it is also not the most productive use of your time. For example, it could mean that you waste time scrolling on social media instead of getting up and organized. Furthermore, many studies have found that using your phone right away can trigger your body’s stress response – which could therefore impact your mood for the rest of the day. Try to avoid your phone for at least an hour after waking up!

Practice mindfulness.

If you’re looking for an alternative morning activity to using your phone, try practicing mindfulness. After all, this can be a great way to clear your mind and prepare yourself for the day ahead. Furthermore, many studies have shown that mindfulness is instrumental in improving your self-confidence and self-esteem levels, which within itself is invaluable. Fortunately, there are many ways in which you can practice mindfulness each morning – such as by meditating or saying positive affirmations out loud.

Have a cup of coffee.

Studies have shown that coffee (and caffeine) does not just give you an energy boost in the morning but steadily throughout the day – meaning a single cup when you first wake up can give you all of the energy you need throughout the day. However, you can take this one step further by choosing your roast of choice carefully. For example, cheerful buddha coffee contains CBD, which can aid mental wellness and reduce some of the adverse side effects coffee drinkers face, such as feeling jittery or shaky. It also tastes great!

Go for a short walk.

Whether you’re getting ready to drop the kids off at school or heading to work for a 9 am meeting, morning routines often need to be kept as short and simplistic as possible to account for the amount of time you have in your hands. This often means that people feel there’s no time to exercise in the morning, despite many studies finding that working out in the morning reaps excellent results. However, you can remedy this by starting your day with a short walk – even going around the block can make a difference and help kickstart your metabolism. Furthermore, it can also be a great way to shake off your sleep and clear your mind by getting some much-needed fresh air.
