Anyone that knows me even slightly will know that I detest hair washing day. My hair is extremely thick and once I’ve washed it I really have to force myself to do something with it to avoid looking a complete mess the next day.
I’m always on the lookout for ways that I can avoid using the dreaded hairdryer too. Aside from the obvious reason that heat can damage your hair, it also takes FOREVER for my hair to dry. I usually wash my hair at night, which means I’m faced with the problem of sleeping with damp hair. So far, I’ve tried:
- Soft rollers
- The bathrobe tie trick
- Silk pillowcase
- Scrunchie in a bun
Unfortunately, none of these methods have worked very well overnight because my hair is still wet the following morning (even sometimes after blasting it quickly with the hairdryer!).
I’ve seen curlformers on social media adverts and they’ve always intrigued me, so I decided to try them. I ordered these curlformers from Amazon that come in a pack of 28. The package also comes with two styling hooks to pull your hair through.
I eagerly washed my hair (first time for everything, right?!) and left it up in a towel for about an hour whilst I put Zak to bed and ate dinner. I then carefully combed my hair through and sectioned it. I found that it was mostly an easy experience, apart from mistakenly trying to put too big of a section through one curlformer. Once my hair was in curlformers, this was what my hair looked like:
You’ll notice some of my hair was poking out at the bottom. I didn’t think about the length of my hair when buying them but honestly, it didn’t make that much of a difference to the end result.
One problem I did run into was sleeping comfortably. I’m a side sleeper, and moving the curlformers to a comfortable position wasn’t the easiest thing to do. However, it was much more comfortable than other solutions I have tried.
The next morning I woke to a lovely surprise – my hair was actually dry! Out came the curlformers and this was the first look:
After a coffee (or two) I popped on some make up and used a small amount of hairspray as I began styling the waves how I wanted them. I was very pleased with the result!
Overall I’m mega pleased about the outcome of the curlformers. Since then I’ve ordered a different type of curlformer (to create actual curls rather than just waves) in a longer length and many more of them this time.
If you’re looking for easy overnight waves then I’d definitely recommend giving these a try! Here’s the link again for the Amazon Curlformers.
